The story of Daniel Ricciardo’s downfall has been public and almost everyone knows that he must be regretting leaving Red Bull for Renault. The Australian driver made a risky move when he left Red Bull, and ever since then, he has been on a downward spiral. He has never shown promise like he did while driving with Max Verstappen.

After shuffling around to McLaren, Ricciardo was fired mid-season and was left without a seat on the grid. Christian Horner has always been a fan of Ricciardo and was highly disappointed that he left in the first place, but without a place on the grid, the team principal gave the Australian a shot at the Red Bull car again. But after scoring no point all season long, Helmut Marko has given him an ultimatum.

Playtime for Daniel Ricciardo is over as he is given a final chance to show that he is worthy of a seat in the team. Dr. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s head of driver development, has given Ricciardo 2 more races to show that he deserves to be in the team as per NZ Herald. If Ricciardo doesn’t show improvement in the next two Grand Prix races (Japan and China), Red Bull may replace him with Lawson for the Miami race and potentially for the rest of the season.

The pressure is on for Ricciardo as Lawson is getting to replace him soon. After being fired from McLaren, Ricciardo is not where he would want to be, and having any place on the grid is important for him in his career. Failing to prove himself might get him a demotion to reserve driver for the two teams.

Within Red Bull, Lawson is seen as the best long-term option to partner with world champion Max Verstappen. New Zealand’s Liam Lawson could secure a full-time Formula One seat as early as May, with Red Bull considering him for a seat with their subsidiary team Racing Bulls. This possibility arises as Red Bull puts pressure on Daniel Ricciardo, the current driver for Racing Bulls.

How can Daniel Ricciardo keep his place in Red Bull?

The Australian driver has had quite a bad start to the season, scoring 0 points in the first three races. Daniel Ricciardo is an established name in Formula One, having previously raced for teams like Red Bull Racing and Renault. Known for his aggressive driving style and charismatic personality, Ricciardo has enjoyed success with multiple race wins and podium finishes in his career and the team wants more.

Winning points in the next two races will help the driver retain his seat on the grid. Being his second chance at redemption, Helmut Marko has given him two races to prove himself and that will be done only with spectacular racing. That being said, Ricciardo is up against a wall with nowhere to go. Proving himself is the only way the driver can keep his seat in Racing Bulls and have another shot at the seat next to Max Verstappen.

Considering that the pressure is on, do you think Daniel Ricciardo will display some impressive driving? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
