Daniel Ricciardo became a sought-after driver in Formula One after McLaren parted ways with him. Both big and small teams wanted to sign the flamboyant 33-year-old to their roster. However, Ricciardo had other intentions for 2023, as he intended to take a hiatus after 12 arduous years of F1. Now, we are all aware that the Australian has joined Red Bull as a reserve driver, but the majority of us are unaware of the circumstances of his unsuccessful attempt to join the backfield teams.

We all witnessed a lot of drama during the previous season, which was a turning point for both, the team principals and the drivers. In the case of Haas, it was particularly significant because the team decided to part ways with Mick Schumacher, leaving them with a vacancy. As a result, they had to find an experienced driver for their team. Currently, Nico Hulkenberg will partner with Kevin Magnussen, but at one point, the American team was in negotiations with Daniel Ricciardo.

We are all currently aware that Ricciardo will be taking a yearlong sabbatical. The year off came right after Ricciardo’s unsatisfactory employment with the woking-based team, which caused the Honey Badger to get weary. But, the question that arises today is what would happen if Riccardo decided to participate in one of the other racing events as a result of watching those fast cars on the f1 circuit, let’s say the American NASCAR, and the Indycar.

So while he was quizzed by SpeedCafe, the Honey Badger said, “I don’t want to say I’m sure. But I would think there would be some flexibility if I was really pushing on something that I really wanted to do. And if it meant Red Bull would get involved, then maybe it’s a win-win, but right now I’m not really looking at doing anything seriously or competitively.”
