McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo had a season full of ups and downs. Although he tasted victory at the Italian Grand Prix, the Australian finished eight races outside the points; a disappointing season by his standards.
When he was asked to review the predictions he made for the 2021 season, he took the opportunity to take a dig at himself.
With the 2021 season done and dusted, the McLaren driver realized just how wrong he was.

Daniel Ricciardo looks back at his Monaco Grand Prix prediction
The Australian had predicted that his favorite race would be the Monaco Grand Prix before the start of the season. Clearly, the McLaren driver realizes how far he was off the mark.

He predicted, “I got this one pretty wrong. My favorite race would be Monaco; because I run those streets. Next year, next year, I’ll run them again. This year, I went at running pace.”

How did Ricciardo’s race pan out in Monaco?
The race around the streets of Monte Carlo was a difficult one for the McLaren driver this season. The 32-year-old was seeing the five red lights from P12 on the starting grid.

It didn’t improve for the former Red Bull driver, as he saw the chequered flag in the same position; going home empty-handed.
With the 2021 season now concluded, and Daniel finished in eighth place in the driver’s championship with 115 points to his name. He is hoping to bounce back in his second season with the Woking-based outfit and bring better results in the 2022 season.
