With the gap of nearly two weeks before the Brazilian Grand Prix, drivers have got some free time. So recently, Daniel Ricciardo was found having fun at Your Mom’s House podcast with their hosts, Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky. The Australian driver joined the hosts in a discussion about his own Formula 1 fortunes and some of the spiciest topics of the sport.

Formula 1 is a really expensive sport in which an individual can pay their way into a driver’s seat. The podcast included talks revolving around the same, i.e. pay drivers. To reach the pinnacle of motorsport, ‘Pay driver’ can use their personal wealth.

The hosts of the podcast took digs at the drivers who are able to drive just because of their wealthy fathers. Tom Segura asked Daniel Ricciardo,” do you guys have a name… is there like a name you give to drivers who bought the team… I’m sorry through drivers whose dads bought a team. Personally got their way there like you like do you guys call them something?”

Christina Pazsitzky responds by saying, “They’re the worst. I hate that guy. I know you’re talking about.”

Segura quickly interjected, “That guy? There’s multiple guys.” To this, Pazsitzky replied, “They’re such pus*ies.”

Ricciardo started laughing and said, “You guys are so ruthless. I love it it’s like you’re so funny.”

Segura kept asking Ricciardo if the drivers call them by any specific names, which made the Honey Badger awkward before he finally replied, “No. I don’t.”

In an attempt to mimic those drivers, Pazsitzky was heard saying, “Daddy come change my diaper.”

When the hosts were continuously poking fun at the ‘pay’ drivers, Ricciardo, being a gentleman, came to their defense.

Daniel Ricciardo believes the ‘pay’ drivers also deserve respect

Daniel Ricciardo came in the defense of the ‘pay’ drivers. The honey badger believes the drivers who have made their entry into the sports with financial backing don’t deserve the criticism they receive.

The Australian driver feels that those drivers also possess the same potential to achieve success. In addition, they are as talented as the other F1 drivers as no sponsor will make any investment in the driver if they don’t find them capable.

Ricciardo said, “I’ll say, look… I’m trying to like be respectful as well. At the end of the day, if you’re driving, once you get to like F2 or F1, even if someone’s paid your way there, you’re still putting your body on the line and all that.

He further added, “So they’re certainly at that level, there’s still an element of respect for sure. Because not everyone can do it. Like maybe their path was easier than others, but they’re still pretty gnarly.”
