Earlier today, he was spotted leaving his Aston Martin road car with a box on top. This could indicate the four-time world champion will don a special one-off helmet for the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend. Given the helmet designs he used in various stages of his career, this could add a level of excitement for Vettel‘s fans.

The 2021 F1 season saw its fair share of changes in the calendar. In April, the Turkish Grand Prix replaced the Canadian Grand Prix due to COVID related difficulties in the North American country. However, a few weeks later, the former saw itself struck out from the calendar owing to its red list status in UK’s travel restrictions.

Later on, the cancellation of the Singapore Grand Prix saw Turkey return to the calendar, with the Australian Grand Prix’s cancellation reducing the number of races to 22.

Can Vettel return to the points in Istanbul?

Although the four-time world champion found his confidence after the Monaco Grand Prix, he struggled to keep the momentum going after the summer break. In the last four races, Vettel scored just five points, all of which came at the rain-stricken Belgian Grand Prix.

However, Vettel can find encouragement in his performance at this track last year. In a chaotic race, the German finished third after executing a strong drive from P12 on the starting grid. Whether Aston Martin can find enough pace to break into the top 10 this weekend, only time will tell.
