Racing Point have been strong contenders for P3 in the Constructors’ Championship. However, their success comes with unprecedented accusations from their opponents on the grid.
The constructors from Silverstone leapfrogged Renault and McLaren to cop a squat at P3 following the Eifel Grand Prix, something that irked the two teams.
Therefore, Renault and McLaren’s judgment of the English constructors was quite harsh. They went as far as dubbing the car as the ‘Pink Mercedes’.

However, when that was not enough, the Silverstone team endured a protest, a fine, and a penalty of 15 points. Yet, to uphold the spirit of the game, they seldom complained.
Andy Green, the Technical director at Racing Point, was already way past his saturation point. Recently, he expressed his views on the accusations that were being hurled at them.
His argument? Racing Point isn’t the only team guilty of copying from the Germans. “If other teams claim they won’t do that and all their ideas are born within your own four walls, then they’re dreaming.
“McLaren recently got a new nose and a new front wing appeared, which clearly take the Mercedes as a template. Has anyone complained that they copied that? Only Racing Point is not allowed to.
“At Renault, the same game. The entire front part of the car is copy and paste of the Mercedes concept. The teams that scream the loudest copy the most,” declared the engineer.

Renault and McLaren’s taunts aggravate situations for Racing Point
Renault and McLaren are top contenders for the P3 spot. However, Racing Point came out of nowhere and threatened their authority.
The team along with Checo and Stroll struggled long enough to procure tight strategies. Now that their efforts are paying off, their compatriots and the French are on their back to get them off the competition.
“We agree, although it poses a big challenge for us because we now have to change and redesign some things on the car for 2021. We can endure the pain in the interests of the sport.

“But now there are directives that contradict that stand what we voted on. If the rules had been written in advance as they now come across in these clarifications, we would never have agreed,” expressed Green.
P1 and P2 for the Constructors’ title are almost certain. Ralf Schumacher has already ruled out Mercedes from the competition and to get a hold of Red Bull, that will be an ordeal.

However, the real deal, the real essence of F1, is for the third spot. Almost 4 teams fight for the spot and the midfield gets all the more exciting with every passing weekend.
