Charles Leclerc is ahead of the field against all expectations and took his third consecutive pole in the streets of Azerbaijan. With only 6 points on the board, the man has been having an absolute nightmare of a season like no other Ferrari driver ever. In an enthralling qualifying session that lit up the 6km long street circuit of Baku, Ferrari driven by Leclerc declared its arrival. However, one lap shoot out and dozens of laps of racing is a different ball game. And the sour orange army who saw their hero Max Verstappen being edged out by the Monegasque have already come out with a chilling threat.

The qualifying session today saw several yellow flags and a few reds, which is a typical trait of the medieval city walls of Baku. And nobody other than our pole-man for Sunday can certify that. The man’s two previous poles haven’t seen any conversion.

The seriousness of the underplayed Baku curse for the Ferrari man began in 2019 when he botched his qualifying and screamed “I am Stupid!!” While we were on a break with Baku in 2020, 2021 was no less for Leclerc as errors caused him to finish fourth and the worst was yet to come. In 2022, Ferrari’s dreams went up in a puff of smoke as Charles Leclerc in the lead had to bow out owing to reliability issues. And this is what the Red Bull fans wanted to remind Charles of.

Orange Army ready to wipe that smile off of Charles Leclerc

A few days ago Carlos Sainz stated that for them to win, Red Bull should slow down. A monster DRS and a blazing straight-line speed over the race will make a difference. And given Charles run in the streets of Baku, one cannot be too hopeful for Ferrari.

While the Ferrari man will have the best start on Sunday, he does have two Red Bull that will sooner rather than later try to trump him. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting turn of events.
