Since its dawn, Formula 1 has always been a male dominant sport. Only a few females, the likes of Desire Wilson, Giovanna Amati, and Lella Lombardi have made it to the pinnacle of Motorsports. As a step to change this homogenous state of affairs, an all-female driver series was announced last year. The F1 Academy is set to replace the Jamie Chadwick-dominated W-series. And the ex-Williams reserve driver, Susie Wolff, has been entrusted with a position of responsibility.
Lewis Hamilton has arguably been the lone torchbearer of rights and diversity, and it is time that a woman is also at the helm of these affairs. Susie Wolff has been appointed as the Managing Director of the F1 Academy. And it has the F1 fans along with Hamilton joining forces to applaud the feat. With all boxes ticking in her favor, the F1 world is elated to see her joining GM Bruno Michel to conduct affairs of the F1 Academy.
The next chapter begins as I join @f1academy as Managing Director.
This is an opportunity to promote genuine change in our industry by creating the best possible structure to find and nurture female talent on their journey to the elite levels of motorsport, on and off track. pic.twitter.com/7BQCz5Uo0L
