A drinks company, as Red Bull was insultingly called, is now the reigning world champion and new registered engine supplier for F1’s new rules in 2026. While that is poetic enough in itself, the champion team is well aware that their power trains may be in demand and have decided to play it cool. The grapevine is ripe with the rumors of McLaren wanting to give a boot to Red Bull’s rivals, Mercedes, for the future to opt for the RBPT. But giving an insight on the potential tie-up, Christian Horner has gone on to state what a charitable act it will be if they actually do decide to supply power trains to McLaren or any other team.
Red Bull built the best engine last year. The said conclusion is extracted from the fact that they took home both championships by huge margins. Recently. Zak Brown visited Milton Keynes to scout their 2026 manufacturers. That being said, Red Bull isn’t the only option for the Woking outfit, with Honda being high up on their list as well. The public non-committal relationship from both the teams has even made Christian Horner brush off the rumors, saying that he thought Brown visited them for an informal outing.
As quoted by Autosport, Horner said, “I thought he was coming for lunch!” He further added, “As a powertrain manufacturer for 2026, it’s inevitable that discussions are going to be had regarding potential powertrain supply. That’s only natural that we would speak with potential customers.”

He further added, “We’re not in a big rush and we are very happy with Mercedes. So, we’ll see how things play out in the next year or so before we need to make a decision.”
