Forever Spice girl and wife to Christian Horner, Geri Halliwell, was recently recognized and acknowledged for her efforts toward women’s empowerment and her contribution to the music industry by a Yorkshire University.

Geri has been a dominant figure in inspiring women all around the globe. She took risks and was fearless in times when women were put down for speaking their minds. She has played a major role in the music industry, ergo, retaining her iconic status for a lifetime.

Halliwell was one of the people and community groups who have been awarded honorary doctorates by Sheffield Hallam University. She was incredibly touched and had a few words to share about receiving this honor.

She said, “It is a great privilege to receive this honorary award from Sheffield Hallam University. I sincerely believe education is a superpower-we are learning machines and I am still learning. I’ve learned that students here at Sheffield Hallam graduate with more than a degree, but with a passion, a focus and a vision for life.”

“You remind us that it’s not just about making a living but about making a difference, to be true to yourselves and do what you love.”

She strongly believes in education and the value it brings to your life. Halliwell believes that it is the utmost source of power that gives you ‘confidence and opens your eyes.’

To conclude, she said, “I was studying A-level English literature before I embarked on a different kind of adventure, so I didn’t go to university–but I always valued my education and my love of reading, storytelling and words. I always had my education to lean on. Education is power.”

She went on to wish the graduates success in whatever they wished to do here on forward.
