Remember when Toto Wolff suggested that beating Red Bull at the moment is not a realistic target? By the looks of it, no team looks capable of beating the Red Bull for the time being. Christian Horner seems to be a little “c*cky” about Red Bull’s dominance, as he’s put on the same pedestal as Toto Wolff. But why? What did Horner say? Let’s find out.

Red Bull is replicating what Mercedes did in the initial years of the Turbo Hybrid era. Red Bull has been the dominant force ever since the ground effect rules were introduced. Despite having aerodynamic penalties for breaching the cost cap last year, Red Bull has managed to increase its advantage over the rest of the field. As a result, Christian Horner recently made comments about rival teams to highlight Red Bull’s dominance.

After the 1-2 result at the Miami GP, Horner took a page out of Toto Wolff’s book and came out with some fighting talk. The Red Bull TP asked the whereabouts of its rivals, just like what Toto Wolff did in the Mercedes domination era. These smug comments suggest the confidence that Horner has in the team and the RB19 as Red Bull realize the fact that they are unbeatable.

According to the Lift the Lid podcast, Billy Monger said, “Red Bull again 1-2 with the result. Christian comes out with a bit of the fighting talk saying where’s Mercedes and Ferrari.” He then asked, “Where’s our competition gone? What did you make of those comments?”

To which Johnny Herbert replied, “I remember Toto Wolff saying the same thing when they were having their domination period. So it’s a typical sort of cocky comment I suppose because you know you’ve got a good car, you know no one has got a chance at beating you.”

These comments put Christian Horner on the same Pedestal as Toto Wolff. While Mercedes stay hopeful of improving on the season, catching Red Bull looks impossible as Toto Wolff reveals the realistic expectations for the upcoming Imola upgrades.

Despite the positive showcase at the Miami GP, Toto Wolff has asked everyone to keep their feet on the ground. The Austrian added to what he said earlier, suggesting how the Silver Arrows will not get ahead of themselves and that the upgrades are a new foundation for things to come. He added that the upgrades would eliminate a few problems but would not make the W14 a rocketship like the RB19.

According to Express.co.uk, Toto Wolff said, “We have to be careful that we have our expectations under control. I don’t think we’ll get there and suddenly we’re half a second faster and in the middle of a fight. We won’t, but we are now laying a new foundation and at least taking some issues off the table that we believe are contributing to us being too slow. Let’s see what that brings”
