The 2021 season was perhaps the most intense season that the Formula One community witnessed in recent years. Both Red Bull and Mercedes pushed themselves to the limit throughout the course of the season.

Team boss of the Milton Keynes-based outfit, Christian Horner, and Toto Wolff of Mercedes have had some heated moments this season. Horner has been part of the grid for a long period of time and has had some intense battles with other teams on the grid.

The British boss stated that during fights with Ferrari when current F1 boss, Stefano Domenicali was team boss of the Italian squad, things were handled differently compared to his battle with Wolff

Speaking to Formule1.nl as quoted by FormulaPassion.it, Horner said, “When we were fighting with Sebastian Vettel against Fernando Alonso for the world championship, Stefano Domenicali was the boss of Ferrari. At the time the competition was on a different level. We say ‘like gentlemen’. This year, on the other hand, has been intense, both on and off the track. I think Toto plays differently, he’s another kind of animal.

There is no doubt that the Horner-led team threw everything at the Silver Arrows in both the drivers’ championship as well as the teams’ championship. In the end, it went down to the wire at the final race of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

In a dramatic fashion, Red Bull won the drivers’ title courtesy of their prodigy, Max Verstappen. However, they weren’t as lucky in the team standings as they lost the constructors’ to Mercedes who went on to win their eighth title in a row.
