Max Verstappen and who else? Currently partnered with Sergio Perez, Red Bull has a decision to make at the end of the season. Perez is out of contract and there will be a lot of drivers available at the end of the season to choose from. But with Perez’s current form, no one can take the Red Bull seat away from him. And Christian Horner agrees!

Perez is out of contract next season which leaves the Red Bull hierarchy with a decision on their hands. One name rumored to join Max at Red Bull is veteran Fernando Alonso. The current Alpine driver is also out of contract at the end of the season. But Christian Horner was quick to clear the air at the start of FP3 when asked if Alonso will join Max next season.

“That’s news to me,” claimed Horner. “He doesn’t fit part of our plans. We’re very happy with our current drivers. “I speak to Flavio, he is a friend, I speak with him every now and again but we are very much focussed on our drivers at this moment in time. Checo has been doing a very good job this year.”

“Everybody’s happy with him on the team, if we had to make a decision today, of course, we would want to extend. As long as he keeps doing what he’s doing, it will be a no-brainer,” said Horner further on the topic.

With Perez’s current form and back-to-back podium finishes, it will be difficult for Red Bull to deny him a contract extension.

Red Bull and Max Verstappen: Not an option for Alonso

Alonso’s second destination could be Sebastian Vettel’s seat at Aston Martin. “He just looks disinterested, we were team-mates in 2006 and that’s not the body language when you get the best out of him.” said Paul di Resta, Vettel’s ex-teammate.

With an underwhelming partnership with Aston Martin, Vettel’s time with the team might end. The four-time world champion might also retire at the end of the season according to rumors. There will definitely be changes in the grid ahead of the 2023 season. Are you excited to see who goes where?
