The Netflix Docuseries changed the face of the apex of motor racing in the land of Uncle Sam. Post the Drive to Survive revolution, the States has waited to have a driver on the grid and their wish will come true in less than a month’s time. William’s academy graduate, Logan Sargeant, is set to join the Formula 1 circus in 2023. While the western world can’t wait to see a driver race under the Stars and Strips, the Red Bull Boss, Christian Horner feels to become one with the American audience, one needs to be more than just another American driver.
The United States of America has been content with their own car racing series in NASCAR and Indycar. The sport of Formula 1 has never been a popular one for them. However, the Milton Keynes Boss believes that for a growing American audience, a driver and team of equal caliber should be allowed to cater to them. Perhaps that is why they wanted Colton Herta onboard their sister team. Not being able to bring in an American driver to the grid post the viewership boom, Horner takes a dig at the team which could.

Taking a direct jab at the Williams Racing team, he added, “It’s great to have him there, and he’s a talented young guy [but] he’s going to be limited in what he can do. The problem is, if you’re finishing 14th or 15th it doesn’t really turn people on. So that’s what we need: an American driver fighting for victories and World Championships.”

Logan Sargeant thinks the timing is great
There was a time for Formula 1 when legends like Michael Schumacher could go to the Americas and possibly not be recognized. In a complete contrast to the past, the popularity of the sport in the US has boomed beyond imagination, thanks to DTS. To add to that, the country will be host to a whooping three Grands Prix in 2023. An American driver couldn’t have come to the scene at a better time.

Sargeant, during the Williams launch, said, “Having three home Grands Prix is not something many, if anyone, has ever been able to say, so I’m looking forward to being able to enjoy those moments.”
He delightfully added, “I think the timing is great. You can tell that Formula 1 in America is at a peak. With the trajectory it’s on, I don’t really see it stopping, to be honest.”
