As a Formula 1, and motorsport fan in general, we don’t have a whole bucket list of amazing racing movies that actually stand out as blockbusters. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have any. One such gem of Hollywood that encapsulates one of the greatest rivalries this sport has seen is ‘Rush’. The 2013 drama-documentary charts the epic 1976 F1 season where the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt was at its absolute peak.
Fans of this sport adore the film. The portrayal of Daniel Bruhl as Lauda and Chris Hemsworth as Hunt has really struck a chord with F1 fans. That being said, though, Freddie Hunt, the son of the British champion isn’t one among the fans of the film, and especially Hemsworth.

Many would say that the Australian actor immortalized Hunt on the big screen. But if you were to ask James Hunt’s son, Freddie, he’d tell you otherwise. According to the 35-year-old, what Hemsworth did was more detrimental to his father’s legacy than solidifying.
On a recent episode of the Pitstop podcast, Hunt opened up about the film and his feelings about Hemsworth’s adaption of Hunt. He said, “My dad was very innocent, humble guy. Very cheeky as well. But he was innocent and humble so he could get away with it. Whereas [Chris] Hemsworth was just c**ky and arrogant and that just wasn’t my father’s character at all.”
“I think unless he was directed deliberately to play it that way, he did an extremely poor job.”

Hunt Jr. won’t be watching Rush again anytime soon, but he does have another F1 blockbuster to look forward to! With Brad Pitt & Lewis Hamilton’s collaborative F1 movie effort going on floors soon, many F1 fans would hope it does a job as good as Rush & hopefully it impressed Freddie as well.
F1 mega movie starring Brad Pitt to start filming soon
The highly-anticipated F1 movie project starring Brad Pitt is going to begin filming very soon! If the reports are anything to go by, filming for the movie, which will see Lewis Hamilton take a serious consultant role will begin shooting as early as the British Grand Prix.
What an honour to host the final panel of the day at #F1Accelerate with movie royalty Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski. Their F1 movie sounds incredible. They’re creating an 11th team and filming on track and on event from Silverstone to the end of the year. pic.twitter.com/fPAn2rJVoS
