The world of Formula 1 has been left shaking after Bernie Ecclestone’s comments regarding the crashgate came to light. Felipe Massa is now on a hunt to claim his title, which would mean stripping Lewis Hamilton of his first-ever title. But in this fight, it seems that the Briton is not alone. Not only have fans backed the seven-time world champion, but his former team, with whom he won the championship, too, has backed him with an explosive video targeting Massa.
The video, which features a famous meme template, has lyrics in the background reading: “The Nile is a river in Egypt,” which were worked around to give the creative caption for the post, which read: Denial [The Nile] is a river in Egypt. Thus, targeting Massa, McLaren asserts that they have the back of their legend and won’t be listening to the claims of the former Ferrari driver.

For McLaren, Lewis was the world champion. Since then, the magnitude of success has taken a dive for the Woking-based squad. It is as important for them to defend Lewis Hamilton as the driver has to do for himself. They can’t afford for Lewis to lose the claims to his first title, which came in 2008. Otherwise, to trace the next championship for McLaren, you’d have to go back nine more years to 1999, when Mika Hakkinen won it for the Papaya team for the second year in a row.

The fans were left screaming as soon as the video went viral on social media. Be it Instagram or TikTok, the fans had to double-check whether it was a video from the official McLaren page or not. Naturally, the massive level of shade dropped on Felipe Massa surprised them, who will reportedly soon set out on his fight to claim the 2008 drivers’ championship title.

Certainly, Massa is finding himself more isolated as the days pass. The claims of him losing the championship have also now been pinned on Ferrari botching his pit stop, rather than everyone else making their way forward. Nevertheless, what happens next in the crashgate saga remains to be seen.
