“How strange!! That is very unusual,” said the commentators, explaining a random abruption during the only free practice session of the Chinese Grand Prix. What was it? An unexplained Fire. The interruption brought out a Red Flag, which was worrying for many drivers because of the limited nature of free sessions this weekend. But what caused it? F1 Expert explains.

A large patch of grass near the Turn 7 of Shanghai International Circuit caught fire. With 45 minutes remaining, the Red Flag was brought out as marshals tended to the inexplicable occurrence. This wasn’t near a grandstand or any fan seating area. While Esteban Ocon did report the fire, there was no explanation as to why it happened. But Ted Kravitz reverse engineered the situation to get to the bottom of the issue.

Ted Kravitz later on explained what might have happened. He said that there is a bump on the curb which leads to cars bottoming and, in turn, leading to sparks flying over to the grass. The grass there is very dry at the moment, hence it was easy for it to catch fire.

“I can’t wait”: says Zhou Guanyu as he gets impatient in excitement for the best part of his weekend

A very tiny Zhou Guanyu went to see Fernando Alonso race in 2004. Who would have thought that that kid from the Chinese crowd would one day race amongst the best and also alongside Fernando Alonso? Zhou joined Sauber’s F1 Team in 2022 but had to wait two long years to blaze the circuit in front of his home crowd. But the time is finally here and the Chinese driver cannot contain his excitement.

F1 returns to China for the first time in five years after previous editions were canceled because of the pandemic. Talking about it, Zhou said, “It’s been crazy over the last week and a half since I came back from Japan. I can’t wait. I know there’s going to be a mix of emotions going into this weekend. Especially on Sunday when the national anthem will be going and the memories of when I came here as a youth will come back.”
