The 2022 silly season unfolded in a way that led to Yuki Tsunoda losing his ‘big brother’ Pierre Gasly. In an unexpected turn of events, Gasly, who had already signed an extension with AlphaTauri, went to Alpine. Formula 1 is a sport where your teammate is your biggest competitor. The unprecedented bromance between the duo was a breath of fresh air for the F1 world. The Frenchman took the role of the leader at Red Bull‘s sister outfit and the rookie, Tsunoda, happily followed the lead.

In a recent interview as a pre-season press activity, Yuki Tsunoda sat down to have a chat about what he expects from the new partnership. Though younger, Tsunoda is now the ‘veteran’ of the team. The 27-year-old rookie, Nyck de Vries, will be making his debut in the upcoming season alongside the 22-year-old Japanese. While the Dutchman already has big shoes to fill in, coming from the country of the reigning double-world champion, the gaping hole left by Yuki’s best mate won’t be easy to fill either. Tsunoda has already highlighted that the relationship that he had with Gasly is a different one.
