Here is the thing, “Life is an endless series of train wrecks with only brief commercial-like breaks of happiness”. While I leave you guessing which movie this iconic line is from, I’ll keep giving you hints along the way. Let us start from the beginning. In 2023, Alpine secured a £178 million (€200 million) cash injection from a group of investors, including Ryan Reynolds, NFL star Patrick Mahomes, and former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua. Though the deal was arranged to help support the French operation’s sporting ambitions in Formula 1, the team’s fortunes have taken a sharp nosedive since then. Do you know what else has nose-dived? Sergio Perez‘s Red Bull hopes. This is the prime reason why Checo’s latest endorsement has left fans making the most random speculations.
The Wolverine-Deadpool mania has penetrated the world of Formula 1. It began with the team Ryan Reynolds owns, i.e. Alpine. The team confirmed they would utilize the one-off design for the race in Belgium, which sees the team ditch their dark blue and navy carbon parts for a fresh paint job. There is also a subtle three-stroke mark to represent the third Deadpool film on the car’s engine cover. Their official X account tweet read, “BWT Alpine F1 Team [handshake emoji] Deadpool & Wolverine. Introducing our exclusive livery for the #BelgianGP.”
To add to that, the team’s drivers, Esteban Ocon, and Pierre Gasly, are also wearing racing suits and helmets in promotional tribute to Reynolds’ latest release. What we didn’t see coming was the addition of a third driver in the cheerleading squad. It was none other than Sergio Perez.
