Sergio Perez became the King of the Street yet again, despite losing the battle in Miami to his teammate. Well, he may not have won on the track, but he certainly took the biggest win off the track as his social value soared to a high compared to the rest of the drivers. What’s even more surprising is that the Mexican edged out his closest competitor, Lewis Hamilton, by over $500,000!

So now, what’s social value? It is a metric that shows the effectiveness of people on social media based on the number of engagements that affect the brand’s value. And in those terms, Checo certainly took the grid by storm, as he had 2.4 million engagements over the Miami GP weekend. On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton had nearly 1.8 million, and the race winner and leader, Max Verstappen, had a little over 1.6 million.

Lewis Hamilton’s magic in Miami appeared pale compared to Checo’s, despite the former being a favorite in these terms. Moreover, these numbers from Sergio Perez also helped push Red Bull’s social media numbers closer to Ferrari’s.

Fans rejoice as Sergio Perez pushes Red Bull closer to Ferrari

After the Baku weekend, thanks to Charles Leclerc’s pole and podium, Ferrari posted over 9 million engagements compared to Red Bull’s 4.8 million. But this time around, the Prancing Horse got 5.3 million compared to its rival’s 5.1 million. Thus, the boost in social value highlights a new wave of popularity for Sergio Perez. Why so? Because currently, only he appears to be the only challenger to Max Verstappen’s dominance.

Ferrari’s popularity continues to skyrocket for one reason or another. Their social value is unparalleled by any other team, but their drivers certainly lack skin in the game.
