The favorite driver for the Monaco race is Charles Leclerc, being the only Monegasque driver on the grid. Ferrari is ready to help him win a race, but the FP1 did not go according to plan. Lewis Hamilton, the driver with the lap record on the track, shows that he is a 7 time world champion for a reason coming in 1st. Oscar Piastri, the McLaren driver who has had some bad luck in the last few races, followed him.

However, this weekend is looking better for him as he finished the second fastest, being sandwiched by the Mercedes drivers. With George Russell wrapping up the top 3, many are wondering why Charles Leclerc is not in the top 3, being raised on the streets of Monte Carlo. However, when Formula 1 put up a post of the top 3 drivers in FP1, Oscar Piastri’s name had an error, which linked him to the Ferrari driver.

When Formula 1 put up a post of the top 3, there was a curious mistake in the name of Oscar Piastri. It looks like even F1 wants to have Leclerc in the top three as in the post. Oscar Piastri’s name had Leclerc at the end of it, showing that maybe the template for the FP1 was made in advance.

While this is just a silly mistake, Charles Leclerc noticed the post and made a comment on it. In response to the error, Leclerc made a joke saying, “I can adopt you if needed” as that will help Piastri get the last name on the banner.

It is to be noted that the Leclerc name comes with some bad luck at Monaco, as the Monegasque driver has never managed to win a home race. Piastri, being a driver who has never won a Grand Prix, having the Leclerc curse rub off on him, is not something he might want, and hopefully, the error does not play as an omen.

Piastri has been extremely quick in the last few races but has lost position because of racing incidents that made him lose his lead in the last two races. However, many fans saw the post and started to share their thoughts on the same.

Fans discuss the Monaco Grand Prix

Seeing two Mercedes in the top 3 was surprising to say the least considering their current condition. Many fans stormed to the comments section upon seeing the post and most fans had some unique takes on the FP1 at Monaco. Knowing Leclerc’s history with the track, this one fan stated, “Charles’ Only Hope for Win.” What they meant by this was that considering his bad luck at Monaco, having the Leclerc name at the end of Oscar Piastri’s name might be the only hope for the Ferrari driver to be affiliated with a win at Monaco.

Another fan stated “The Monaco curse will end for a Leclerc but it’s going to be Oscar,” and shared how they believe that the curse will be transferred to the McLaren driver giving way for the Monegasque to take the win.

Other fans also believe that the error was actually a sign that will end Charles Leclercs bad luck at the track. This fan posted, “Oscar Piastri-Leclerc ending the curse for the Leclerc family” explaining the same.

Although it was an error on F1’s behalf, some fans are left confused as to what is happening. This is clearly noticed in the comment of this fan as they stated, “Can someone explain to me what this thing about Leclarc and Piastri is about?”

Oscar Piastri has been really fast in the recent races and its only fair to expect him to get his spotlight. Considering Piastri’s recent pace, he might take the win, and because of the error in the banner, he is now jokingly being considered to be part of the Ferrari driver’s family. With him having a chance to win, one commenter posted, “Leclerc Family FTW!”

Its clear that this generated a lot of buzz online and we are yet to see if the curse still exists. That being said, do you think Charles Leclerc can win the Monaco Grand Prix this year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
