The 2022 F1 season has already come to an end, but the drama outside the track is still intensifying. Following Mattia Binotto’s decision to end his relationship with Ferrari after 28 years in power, Frederic Vasseur has been named the new team principal. Seeing this, Ralf Schumacher, a former driver, and Mick Schumacher’s uncle has noted that Vasseur will face a challenging assignment. The prospect of Charles Leclerc winning the title, though, may come true with this new change.

Ferrari’s new team principal, Frederic Vasseur, may raise expectations for the team to win the championship in the future years. But the engineer’s path wouldn’t be a simple one because he can rather face an internal conflict. Ralf Schumacher, the brother of the legendary German driver Michael Schumacher, asserts that the Frenchman’s first responsibility will be to handle the heated field pertaining to the Team’s pilots.

According to Ralf Schumacher, Mattia Binotto, the former team principal, had more sympathy for Carlos Sainz than Charles Leclerc. However, Leclerc will once more be led by Vasseur. Prior to this, Vasseur gave the Monegasque a start at Sauber (now Alfa Romeo) and created a roadmap for him to advance to a major club like Ferrari.

When speaking with Sky Deutschland, uncle Schumacher said, “Binotto was more of a fan of Carlos Sainz, who he also brought in. However, he believes that the Monegasque suffered more during Binotto’s reign,” Charles Leclerc suffered a little from that.” (Translated via Google)

There may be rumors that Charles Leclerc and Mattia Binotto did not get along well and that the Monegasque may have been the cause of the Italian engineer’s resignation from the team, but Leclerc has something to share that may change all such perceptions.

Charles Leclerc shuts down the rumors and wishes Mattia Binotto for the future

At the end of this year, the Ferrari team principal will depart from the team. Despite being the best year since 2019, it one was also rife with setbacks. Due to a number of problems, including driver errors, strategic errors, and reliability issues, the squad that looked powerful at the beginning of the season was well behind Red Bull at the end.

The continuous disappointment ruined the team’s atmosphere, and at one point, we saw Binotto yelling at Leclerc after the latter lashed out against the team’s choice. However, the rumor around the town that Leclerc forced Binotto to leave the squad was put to rest a few days ago when the Monegasque thanked Binotto for bringing him on board and wished the Italian engineer well in the future.

He said, “Mattia called me to announce that he will stop. I respect his decision and I can only thank him. Obviously, he has believed in me right from the start, he extended me with a very, very long contract, and before being team principal he was also inside the Scuderia for many, many years and he has contributed to the success the team had in the past years.

“So I wish him the best and obviously now it’s up to us to focus on the future, try and take the right choices in order to to be a bit more of a challenge to Red Bull next year,” he added.
