Ferrari had made an announcement on Wednesday stating that they would return to LeMans in 2023. They will compete in the LeMans hyper class of the World Endurance Championship. The return will see the Italian team taking part in its first factory prototype campaign since 1973 and winning the championship back in 1965.

Adding on, the Scuderia driver, Charles Leclerc, took part in last year’s LeMans Virtual Race. The Monégasque driver hopes it turns into reality as he wants to take part in the iconic racing championship as he stated in the first launch of the team.

However, Leclerc has stated even though he is passionate about LeMans he is fully focused on F1 and is hoping to carry Ferrari back to the top after their fall from grace that they endured last year.

The F1 grid is no stranger to the LeMans competition, Fernando Alonso, who has won the competition in 2018 as well as 2019. This might give Leclerc some motivation to change streams and race in the championship.

The Scuderia’s hunt to restore honor back in the team

Ferrari has a mammoth task for the 2021 season. The team finished 6th with 131 points their worst season on the grid in four decades. Ferrari has brought in Carlos Sainz from Mclaren to partner up with Leclerc and take them to the top of the grid where they belong.

The team is yet to unveil their 2021 car, which is due to take place on the 10th of March. Sainz and Leclerc will behind the wheel of the Ferrari and hope to restore pride and glory at the Tifosi as they set out on the 2021 campaign.
