The Monegasque, Charles Leclerc, had the best and the worst season with his 2022 campaign. The mistakes by Ferrari and their potential world-champion driver were too many to be ignored. While Ferrari thinks the last season was a huge step in the right direction, the pundits agreed to disagree.
The year 2020 marked its 1000th Grand Prix start, but Ferrari experienced their worst finish since 1980. It certainly became a year to forget. Speed Gods did not favor the Prancing Horse. Their next campaign saw them bring in their youngest-ever driver line up and they inched toward their target destination. However, very soon, 2022 saw them showcase their worst strategy and mistakes.
Even though the team sees themselves inching toward their set goal, Charles Leclerc’s goals don’t align with that of his team. The Monegasque prodigy is very restless in his desire to claim the title. Leclerc wants to achieve this as early as 2023, but that is not what the team has in mind.

“Exactly! I know that the President (John Elkann) has said that it is a goal to be achieved by 2026, but as a pilot, I cannot think about this deadline. I am very impatient. I will prepare and do everything possible to be World Champion in 2023” said Leclerc in an interview with Motorsport.com.

The Ferrari Dream
Leclerc signed the longest contract in the history of the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team. The meteoric leap from Alfa Romeo to the Maranello-based outfit was a dream come true for him. An interviewer asked him, “What did you think when you saw yourself in the Ferrari suit for the first time?” To which Charles said: “It was a great feeling because it was my childhood dream to get to F1 and drive for the Prancing Horse. I also thought about my father, because he shared this dream.” To add to that, he has also stated that he loves Ferrari and wants to win a title with them.
To dream is one thing and to live that dream is something else. The first time a person wears a red outfit will always stay with them forever. Leclerc remembered his official debut as a Ferrari driver which happened to coincide with the car launch. The flock of people surrounding him made him realize the fan’s passion for the brand and the team.
