The race week in Australia came to an end, with Charles Leclerc winning another race this season. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez and George Russell finished behind the Ferrari man. After the race, Leclerc joked about getting a Ferrari safety car into F1 to defeat Mercedes.

It seems F1 challengers aren’t the only cars for competing in F1 anymore. As George Russell was even comparing the safety cars. This season Mercedes and Aston Martin are providing the Safety cars. Aston Martin Vantage was the safety car for the Australian GP and it came on the circuit twice for Carlos Sainz and Sebastian Vettel.

Further, Silver Arrow driver Russell took a dig at the British safety car, stating that the Mercedes AMG safety car is faster. Russell said, “We don’t have the issues with the Mercedes AMG safety car. Honestly, the Mercedes AMG is 5s a lap quicker than the Aston Martin safety car.”

Hearing Russell’s claim, Charles Leclerc also got fired up and said his team should also introduce a safety car that can be faster than Mercedes. Leclerc jokes, “We need to put a Ferrari, so then it is 5s quicker than the Mercedes!”

How is the season so far for Charles Leclerc?

The Monegasque driver is having a phenomenal season. He is dominating since the season opener in Bahrain. Leclerc won the Bahrain race and then bagged his second win in Australia. Although he could have won the Jeddah race, Max Verstappen overtook him eventually to win the race.

Charles Leclerc is comfortably sitting on the top of the 2022 drivers’ standing with 71 points. In the second place, it’s George Russell, who is 34 points behind the Monegasque driver. Further, the Maranello base is leading the constructors’ standing with 104 points.

Undoubtedly, the Italian F1 team has the best car and a strong driver line-up this season. But the Ferrari drivers had few problems with the F1-75. Carlos Sainz had a disappointing week in Australia, retiring from the race. He had issues with the steering wheel and tyres. Further, Leclerc also complained about experiencing significant porpoising, but he can bear with it because of the car’s speed.

Charles Leclerc will return with the Ferrari F1-75 for the Imola GP. It would be interesting to see how the Prancing Horses perform there, as it would be a home race for the Italian F1 team.
