Lewis Hamilton is earning huge plaudits from the Formula 1 community after winning his record-equaling 7th championship. The Briton is shattering record left and right.
So much so that even his peers are showering him with enormous compliments. First, Sebastian Vettel, his biggest rival, recognized him as the ‘greatest of our era’. Now, his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc is calling him the ‘best on the grid’.

The Monegasque is no stranger to Hamilton‘s superhuman driving abilities. However, even he was gobsmacked by the seven-time World Champion’s race win in Turkey.
The Briton qualified outside the top five that day; His car wasn’t at its usual fast self. However, he drove a superb race to ‘unexpectedly’ win and seal not just the championship but his legacy too.
Looking back on that race, Leclerc said, “Lewis has been incredible this year.
“For me, the most impressive performance this year was Turkey because nobody expected him to be so strong.

“Everybody expected Lewis to be struggling and at the end, when it mattered, he did it. And he won the championship with a win there. This shows that people who say it is only the car are wrong,” he continued.
“Surely he is driving with the best car, but performances like this show he is the best on the grid at the moment. So congratulations to him and he has always been so consistent at the top and this can only be respected.”
It’s great to see Charles give Lewis his due credit amid some of the chatter surrounding his impending contract extension. Since George Russell impressed everyone in his maiden outing with the Silver Arrows, people have started to devalue and discredit his success.

Granted, the Briton drives the fastest car on the grid, but only the best drivers get the best machinery. Also, performances like Turkey show that he produces even when the ‘W11’ is not quick enough. To some degree, being with a team like Mercedes helps, but he’s earned it.
