Not enough to match Red Bull, but Ferrari did have a good pace at the Belgian GP weekend. On Friday itself, Charles Leclerc showed that he was good enough for the front row by getting provisional Pole, seconds before Max Verstappen stole it. But since the Dutchman had a grid penalty, Leclerc got the Pole. After that session, the Monegasque flaunted the results of his efforts. But his plans for the summer break are in contrast to what helped him progress.
On Friday, after getting Pole, Leclerc said that small changes in his driving had made “a big difference”. And that had a considerable job to do in boosting his confidence. Now that the much-needed month-long summer break has begun for all F1 stakeholders, the Ferrari Talisman has revealed how he plans to unwind in his hometown.
The drivers and teams get no break after the season gets underway and all operations start moving as fast as their cars on the straight with the DRS open. But the summer break gives them the much-needed time to relax and let loose. After getting P3 at the Belgian GP, the Monegasque said he intends to stay completely away from racing. In the post-race interview, Leclerc said, “No racing for me. Around Monaco, Corsica, and Sardinia with my family and friends!“

It was a brilliant weekend at Spa for Charles Leclerc. From getting Pole to holding off Lewis Hamilton to clinch a podium, he did a massive job. And his SF-23 was there to facilitate his talent and efforts all along. So before going into the break, he appreciated Ferrari and gave them a goal to work on matching Red Bull.
Leclerc said, as quoted by AutoGear, “We had a very positive weekend on our part in terms of pace. Of course, the race was good for me, but regrettable for Carlos [Sainz], as I think we had a good pace. That’s good; when you look at Red Bull, we still have a lot of work to do – especially in terms of race pace, because of the degradation and everything, they’re still way ahead.”
