In 2018, the Monaco native made his Formula One debut with Sauber. Then, the following year, he made it to the Ferrari camp, and ever since then, he hasn’t looked back. Amidst all of these years, have you ever wondered where the Ferrari driver would’ve been if he weren’t competing in Formula One? Don’t worry, he would still have been in the paddock.
Charles Leclerc was questioned in 2018 on the Beyond the Grid podcast about if he ever had a backup plan in case he hadn’t become an F1 driver. To this, the 25-year-old replied, “Yes, there was a Plan B in my situation until probably GP3. After that, there was no real Plan B anymore.”
Revealing what was the backup plan, he said, “But until GP3, I was still continuing my studies. I really liked the engineering part of Formula One also. So I really had a Plan B that in case I will not be a racing driver, I would like to be an engineer for a racing driver actually. So yeah, this was my Plan B in case it didn’t work out.”
