What must Ferrari do to carry the same momentum they started the 2022 season with? That’s the question a lot of Ferrari fans ask after Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominated the latter half of the 2022 season. A former driver believes the Scuderia couldn’t cope with the pressure despite the talent of Charles Leclerc.
Former driver, Christian Klien, on F1’s official podcast, talked about Ferrari and their Monegasque driver. We are all aware of Ferrari’s blistering start to the 2022 season. However, sadly, the history books will define Ferrari’s 2022 season as filled with errors and a missed opportunity for Charles Leclerc.

When asked to give his thoughts on Ferrari, the Austrian former Formula One racing driver said, “I think they just have to come more together as a team, stop mistakes on the strategy side. Feels like technical issues hurt them as well, little bit. There were a few mistakes from the drivers as well,” he summed up.
However, the former Red Bull driver feels there is a world champion in Ferrari’s garage. When asked if he sees a lot of difference between Verstappen and Leclerc in terms of speed, he put the two in the same category.
“I think Charles is equally talented. Some of his pole position laps that he put together this year were just unbelievable. I also think he has the race craft.”
“Charles Leclerc is definitely also a future Formula 1 world champion if he has the car that he requires,” Klien suggested.

There is obvious talent in the Ferrari camp, as Leclerc has showcased time and again. However, as suggested, the area Ferrari and the Monegasque need to work on performing under pressure.

The Italian team did not and could not see the fierce comeback Red Bull launched after the shaky start. However, Ferrari was still faster on multiple occasions, but they could not translate that into wins. Why? Christian Klien might have an answer.
“Ferrari, for the first time in a long time, that they were actually fighting for a world champion. I think in this area Max was just more calm. Red Bull was more ready to fight for the championship,” Klien understands.
