Formula One will host its very first Qatar Grand Prix at the Losail International Circuit next week. The circuit was previously used in MotoGP but never in a Formula series. So many drivers would be going into the circuit with no prior experience or knowledge of the track. And Charles Leclerc is no different!

The Monegasque made a hilarious remark with respect to just how clueless he is about the layout of the track.

“I don’t know if the first corner is turning left or right. I still have three/four days to prepare Qatar the way it is,” said the Ferrari driver, jokingly.

Today was all about managing the gap with the people behind: Charles Leclerc

The Monegasque driver mentioned he was thrilled with his P5 result at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. While analyzing his race, Leclerc pointed out that his main aim in the race was to manage the gap from the cars behind.

“Very happy. Today was all about managing the gap with the people behind. Obviously, I had Carlos (directly) behind, but after that, we were quite clear compared to the others, which was good to see,” said Charles.

“So happy with the pace today, especially happy with the improvement I’ve done in driving from yesterday to today–yesterday was a difficult day for me. I worked hard yesterday night, I worked hard this morning, and I managed to drive a lot better in this race.

“So yes, happy to finish this difficult weekend on a high,” said Leclerc.

Sainz finished the race in P6 behind Leclerc. The points haul takes Ferrari 31.5 points ahead of McLaren in their battle for the P3 in the championship. With just three races to go, it seems like that this might be enough for the Italian team to finish in P3.
