In an interview with Canal Plus, the Monegasque revealed his relationship with other drivers. He said, “Friendship is complicated in F1 but we managed to put a line between the driving and outside of it and it’s really important. With Pierre (Gasly), I am very good friends.

“Esteban (Ocon) and Pierre we know each other since we were little.”

Gasly and Ocon also were very close friends, while Charles Leclerc was a year younger to the French duo. Leclerc also is now partnered with Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who had a splendid debut season. The two drivers finished P5 and P7 respectively in the standings last season. Leclerc also described his relationship with Sainz as they begin their second season together.

He said, “We get along super well. We are competitors. In the end, your teammate is the only one who has the same car and I want to beat him but we need to find a balance to work for the team.”

Leclerc and Sainz will hope the new F1-75 will help them challenge the likes of Red Bull and Mercedes this season.

Ferrari have worked incredibly hard after the COVID-19 pandemic delivered a huge blow to their progress. However, the new F1-75 has been impressive so far in the pre-season testing in Barcelona. Both drivers completed a significant amount of laps in the new car, which has been dubbed a serious threat to the ‘big guns’.

Leclerc will be looking to return to his best form after a disappointing 2021. He finished 5.5 points below his counterpart Sainz, who secured 4 podiums in his first season. The two drivers are expected to give the entire grid a run for their money in 2022. Team Principal Mattia Binotto will be aiming to get the ground running from the start. The season begins at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 20.
