F1 fans have been wondering why the Ferrari boss was wagging his finger at Charles Leclerc after the British GP. The initial assumption of Leclerc getting a scolding from Mattia Binotto was confusing. However, on a serious note, Leclerc was genuinely being scolded by Binotto. The Monegasque explained why.

It’s bizarre that Binotto scolded the Monegasque, especially after Ferrari’s strategy let him down again. The poor strategic calls and unreliability have become a growing trend for Ferrari and Leclerc as the last five races are proof. However, despite his recent public criticism, Leclerc, who has some media training now, is extra careful with his words.

During the explanation, Leclerc said, “He was actually pissed off — pissed off, is that a bad word?”

He continued, “He was angry at me because I was too down and he obviously tried to cheer me up, which everybody was wondering why he was putting the finger like this. But I think he was just frustrated to see me so much down after such a great race.”

It’s hilarious to see the level of media consciousness in Leclerc. The Monegasque for a second thought “pissed off” is foul language. Despite being told it is not, he still went ahead with “angry” just to be extra careful.

Either way, the on-track conversation wasn’t enough to set the mood right after the British GP mishap. Binotto took extra steps to talk to the Monegasque in his home country as both met for dinner ahead of Austria.

Giving context about the dinner in Monaco, Leclerc disclosed, “Then in Monaco, something we usually do, he came to Monaco because the last five races have been quite hard on me, and I just wanted to stay at home and disconnect a bit from everything, to be fully 100% for this weekend. He just came to Monaco to speak about the last five races and to make sure it was all fine on my side.
