Introducing himself for Netflix’s Drive to Survive, a smiling Charles Leclerc stated he has the longest contract in the history of Scuderia Ferrari. The Monegasque is bound with the team till the end of 2024, but we have all seen drivers leaving or being relieved of their duties before the expiry of the contract. Looking at the state of Ferrari and the fact that Lewis Hamilton is still to put pen to paper, Charles’ move to Mercedes is being touted. But is he bidding Maranello goodbye?
On the other hand, Lewis will hang his boots sooner rather than later and the coveted seat at Mercedes will be up for grabs. And as Hamilton’s contract is still to be renewed and the troubles at the Brackley outfit are no less, Ferrari man Charles Leclerc is constantly being linked to take Hamilton’s place. However, ahead of the Azerbaijan GP, Ferrari man makes a promise to the ones speculating.
As quoted by ESPN, Leclerc rubbished claims. He stated, “For now, I am fully focused on the project I am in today, which is Ferrari and I fully trust and am confident for the future. Then we will see, but I am fully confident for the project of Ferrari.”Emphasizing that he is not moving to the Silver Arrows, he said, “No. Zero. Zero. Really zero. You all smile because you don’t believe me, but I promise.”

He further added, “Again, I’m fully committed to Ferrari and I love Ferrari. It has always been a dream for me to be in this team and my main priority is to win a world championship with this team. So it’s not something in my mind.”
And amidst all these conjectures, Lewis Hamilton’s name is also being embroiled in the rumor mill.
Lewis Hamilton unfazed by Charles Leclerc rumors
The 38-year-old Mercedes champion went a season without winning a race. This is the same man who took his first GP win with only 6 races in. And with the state of Mercedes’ development, that eighth title seems to be slipping away from the man. And that leads us all to believe will he switch teams.

Lewis stated, “Maybe all the drivers have relationships with different bosses. I like where I am. I love my team. I am grateful for the journey that we’ve been on, and what we’re working on moving forwards.”
He further added, “It doesn’t have any impact, no. I’ve got some amazing allies. I’ve got great relationships here,” he said. I think, for me personally, just as long as I can continue to help the team, as long as I can continue to help drive the team forwards and really contribute, then that’s why I want to stay.”
