The Dutch Grand Prix promised to be a close affair after an interesting practice session. However, it was too close for Leclerc and Verstappen after the latter beat Leclerc by 0.021s to get pole.
Both the drivers had a perfect lap in the final run. Leclerc had a decent purple first and third sector, giving him an impressive time of 1:10.363. Leclerc might have hoped he had done enough to secure the pole but Verstappen had other ideas. Verstappen capitalized on Leclerc’s poor middle sector and it was enough to cross the line 0.021s quicker than Leclerc.
Leclerc’s disappointment was evident when he heard he had missed out pole to Max by a thin margin.
Mattia Binotto said, “What a shame Charles, very good.”
Leclerc said, “Thank you Mattia, in the second sector we struggled a bit. Never mind, tomorrow!”

Leclerc will be looking to close the gap in front. It won’t be so easy though, given Max has a huge home advantage. The crowd will be cheering for him to win back-to-back GPs.
