Heading into the summer break, Charles Leclerc will not be happy with the overall results of the 2022 F1 season. The Monegasque started the season brilliantly with a win and led the championship for a while, but sits a massive 80 points behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen thanks to numerous strategy goof-ups.
Despite the recent heartbreaks, the young Charles Leclerc would still be proud of his present-day self. As most kids do, a 15-year-old Leclerc also had a dream, a dream that many kids his age, with his interests, would share. However, nine years later, Leclerc is living the dream he dreamed of at 15.

The Ferrari man discussed his dream when asked, “From a racing point of view, what is your dream?”
In the 2013 video, he said, Of course, my dream is to be in Formula 1. But I know we need to work a lot to be in Formula 1 because there’s only 24 drivers, and it is very difficult to reach that.”
“But Nicolas Todt is managing me and I think I just need to do the work. And maybe one day I will have the chance to be in Formula 1.”
Even at 15, Leclerc showcased the maturity to grasp the difficulty of getting into the premier class of motorsport (F1). The young Monegasque was also aware of the dedication it would require to get to the top. He put in the hard work and fulfilled his dream when he signed for Sauber in the 2018 season.
Now we know Leclerc’s dream from when he was 15. However, the Ferrari man also disclosed the start of his journey and how he got into racing.

Discussing the birth of his passion for the sport, Leclerc shared the influence of Jules Bianchi in his life. The 15-year-old revealed the simple start to his current life in the interview.

He said, “My passion was born in…on the truck of Jules Bianchi. One day I was not very sick, but I said to my father that I was sick to go to karting. I tried for the first time on the track so it was like this track and I did my first lap there and I definitely liked it so then it continues like that..”
Jules Bianchi sadly could not witness Leclerc achieve his dream and then some more, as the Monegasque became the driver he is today.
