With a title rivalry for the ages blooming between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, people have quickly begun choosing their sides. While it’s hard to envision anyone but Lewis being the favorite to win the title again this year, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc doesn’t share the same view. According to the Monegasque, he’s backing the Red Bull ace to take the plaudits in 2021.
There’s no doubting the oodles of talent the Dutchman has in him. But until this year, he didn’t quite have the machinery to make a run for the title. Now that he has the final piece of the jigsaw with him, Leclerc reckons Max could end Hamilton‘s dominance.

Eurosport quoted Leclerc saying, “If I had to bet a euro on one of the two? Verstappen. The Red Bull has progressed and seems to be ahead of Mercedes. Max is capable of winning because he has a lot of talent.”

Meanwhile, Leclerc himself has been pretty impressive since he burst onto the F1 scene with Alfa Romeo. In fact, a fellow rival views the Monegasque to be a title-contending driver for the future.
The Scuderia driver has begun the 2021 campaign on an impressive note, with a P6 and a P4 finish. He believes the Maranello-based outfit are well and truly back on the path to redemption.

The Italian team had a horrendous season last year, and that has caused them to hit the refresh button and start anew. So far, 2021 has brought a lot of positives for the historic team, and Charles is giving the plan his full backing.

He said, “I believe in the project because I know how we work internally and I know our potential. After a difficult year 2020, we have gathered all the things to become competitive again. The technical project is added to the story and honor to drive for this team. I want to bring Ferrari back to victory .”
The Tifosi will certainly be happy to see all the improvements and will hope they can build on this and chart a route back to the top of the standings.

Front and center of that charge back to the top will be Leclerc, whom the team greatly trust. Will the Monegasque go down as a Ferrari legend, or perhaps even an F1 legend? Only time will tell, but he certainly has all the components to be a very special driver.
