Mercedes enters the Metaverse with limited edition NFTs

The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team is diversifying. Entering the metaverse with limited edition NFTs is hardly something we expect from an F1 team, but it is happening. At the coming Miami Grand Prix, Mercedes will auction two of the ten limited edition NFTs. These ten NFTs will feature exclusive artworks and the eight constructors’ title-winning cars.

According to information, the first two of the lot will be up for auction on the FTX platform during the Miami Grand Prix weekend. And the rest of the collection will be available later in the season. But the winner of these auctions will not own the NFT alone. To make things interesting, they will bundle the NFT with a rear wing of the W13, which will be driven at the Miami Grand Prix.

And to bring these artworks to meta-verse life, the silver arrows collaborated with the multi-disciplinary artist Mad Dog Jones for all the artworks. The first two feature the cars of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. And the winners of the NFT will receive the physical rear wing from the driver’s car from the race in Miami.

The artist has also created NFT ticket stubs as a collectible. This includes the four races that have already concluded.

All for a good cause

Mercedes will donate the proceeds from the auction of the NFTs to a charity. The charity in question is Ignite. It’s a joint charitable initiative from Mercedes-AMG Petronas and Mission44. Ignite is a charitable foundation aiming for greater diversity in motorsport.
