“Celebrated Too Early”: Tifosi’s Hopes Dashed Again After Frederic Vasseur’s Aston Martin-Like Tactics for Ferrari Faltered

With 2 wins from the first 3 races last year, Ferrari started off on a high. However, as the season progressed, they failed to make enough progress while Red Bull found the golden formula. As the season ended in enormous embarrassment, the management sacked team boss Mattia Binotto and brought in Alfa Romeo boss Frederic Vasseur. Little changed under the Frenchman as the 2023 season kicked off and that pushed him to take some desperate measures. Aston Martin is reaping the benefits of the measures that they took last year. However, Fred has failed in his bid to make the move stick and that has left the Tifosi hopeless about the team’s future.

Many took digs at Aston Martin when they unveiled their 2023 challenger, the AMR23. They found the car’s look to be very similar to that of the 2022 Red Bull car, the RB18. Even Sergio Perez took a sly dig at his rivals when Fernando Alonso landed his first P3 finish of the season. The Mexican driver said that he was glad to see all three Red Bull cars make it to the podium.

Frederic Vasseur fails to replicate Aston Martin’s formula of success

The reason behind those digs was Aston Martin poaching Red Bull engineers, including Dan Fallows, in 2022. Ferrari looked to follow the same path as earlier last month it was reported that they had landed two Red Bull engineers. However, the latest reports revealed the names of those engineers and also that the bid to poach them failed.

As per a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Ferrari was in contact with Enrico Balbo, the aerodynamics chief of Red Bull. However, negotiations failed, as he refused to leave Milton Keynes. Pierre Waché, the technical director, was also on the list, but he too rejected the Maranello-based team’s offer.
