The Spanish Grand Prix weekend did not go as planned for the hometown hero Carlos Sainz. The Ferrari driver had a lot of expectations from himself and of the crowd in Barcelona to deliver an excellent performance.

But he could not deliver on those expectations and finished the race in 4th position. He made some costly mistakes during the race, which hampered him from taking part in the battle for the podium.

During an interview with F1 Nation, his father and former world rally champion Carlos Sainz Sr. mentioned that it was not the weekend Carlos Jr. had dreamt of.

The 2-time World Rally champion spoke about how his son has been struggling this season with the car. But he mentioned that the young Spanish driver is going through a period that every racing driver goes through.

” Well, obviously, it has not been the weekend that he has been dreaming of and that he wanted. But at the moment he’s going through a period that he really needs to rethink and try to go step by step,” said the former rally champion.

“Because when you are not comfortable with the car; mistakes, pressure, and things like that build up over the season, which hasn’t been so smooth. I think he has to, you know, try to sit back and try to build up the confidence again,” said Sainz Sr.

It is fascinating to hear the former world rally champion’s assessment of his son’s performance this season. It is quite clear that the Ferrari driver is currently having a confidence crisis this season. But he could always turn to his father for some advice regarding his issues and may get some solutions.

So it would be helpful for him to take some much-needed advice from his father regarding his recent struggles.
