F1 is a global sport and nations around the world have produced world-class driving talents, who have been showcased at the pinnacle of open-wheel single-seater racing.

That being said, certain linguistic goofs do occur when we have drivers from different nationalities competing in F1. Recently, Daniel Ricciardo took to Instagram to take a funny swipe at Carlos Sainz for this very reason!

Ricciardo took to his social media page to share a few pictures and videos from the Mexican Grand Prix. However, among the content that Ricciardo shared, was also a moment that has left F1 fans in a stitch.

During the Free Practice session, Sainz’s engineer came onto the radio to tell him that De Vries was on an outlap behind. But the Spaniard heard ‘De Vries’ as ‘Debris’! Riccardo posted the image of the talk, “De Vries behind on an outlap.” To which Sainz responded, “What? Debris?”

EThe friendly banter between the two continues as the Australian took to social media to take a jibe at the Spaniard.

Now that we are close to finally shutting the door on the 2022 F1 season, Ricciardo is out of a seat. That being said, the situation that the Honey Badger finds himself in is very normal according to Spaniard, Carlos Sainz.

While talking to Motorsport.com, he said, “I think every driver knows, we are judged by what we have done and achieved in the last race.” He continued, “At the most we evaluate the last season, and that is why Daniel is in such a difficult situation today. No sport has a long memory, and I don’t think we can change this approach.”
