Ferrari is slowly becoming the hub of multi-talented F1 drivers. While Carlos Sainz’s excellence radiates during his golf games outside of F1, Charles Leclerc is a very talented musician. Coincidentally, the Scarlet Red team’s future driver, Lewis Hamilton, is also a musical genius. There were a lot of fans speculating about a potential collaboration between the future teammates in 2025. But Sainz, with his cheeky revelation, has put a dampener on this possibility.
In signing Lewis Hamilton and setting the stage for a fiery future for Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur has also brought two music creators together. The 7-time champion aka XNDA has often teased his unfinished tracks to his Instagram audience and Leclerc has released 3 piano singles and an official ‘Dreamers’ album with French Piano Icon Sofiane Pamart.
During pre-season testing, the Monegasque was even questioned about a musical collaboration with Hamilton. “If it’s what everybody wants to know, then I’m not sure, to be honest,” he said. But he agreed to ask his idol about the possibility. “I’ll speak with him from next year onwards about a potential collaboration.” Leclerc’s ‘smooth operator’ teammate, however, has royally undercut his musical talent.

While talking about Leclerc’s potential alternate careers, Sainz began by revealing his teammate’s love for architecture. The host naturally replied, asking why being a musician wouldn’t be his first choice. “He’s (Leclerc) not talented enough for music,” Sainz said with a deadpan delivery that sent Leclerc into fits of laughter. “It’s true, it’s true, it’s true, but I take it very badly. I’m gonna cry,” Leclerc replied while still laughing. “I had to take it back for the golf,” Sainz said, referring to an earlier burn served by his teammate.

The buffoonery between them continues even in their last year being teammates. In another part of the interview, however, Leclerc did prove how good his musical palate is.

Charles Leclerc reveals his “love” for Oscar-winning music producer Hans Zimmer
Charles Leclerc doesn’t just have mainstream music preferences. His three singles and the collaboration with French pianist Sofiane Pamart highlighted his control over the piano and his knowledge as well. So, his love for Hans Zimmer, who is known for painting pictures with his musical scores alone, doesn’t come as a surprise.
In the same interview, the host asked Carlos Sainz for his teammate’s musical inspiration, to test their camaraderie. “Mozart”, replied Sainz, which drew a disappointed “No, no Carlos!,” from Leclerc. After a few seconds of thinking to not disappoint his teammate again, the Spaniard said, “you like the soundtrack of Interstellar”. “Hans Zimmer, I love him”, replied Leclerc, finally approving Sainz’s reply.

Leclerc indeed knows that to be the best, he has to look up to the best. Whether he releases a musical piece with Lewis Hamilton or not remains to be seen, but their individual talents cannot be undermined.
