Ferrari had a promising start at the beginning of the season of 2022; however, their progress dwindled as the season progressed. Red Bull eventually emerged as the dominant team. They not only won the drivers’ championship, but also bagged the constructors’ championship for the year.

Ferrari came a close second. However, considering the promising start, Ferrari had a rather disappointing year. Charles Leclerc went headstrong for most of the season, battling Max Verstappen, neck to neck in most races. However, for the year 2023, Ferrari man, Carlos Sainz, is rather confident.

Sainz claims that he now understands, and is completely in tune with the new generation Ferrari car. Ergo, success for the prancing horse for the upcoming season would be inevitable, according to the Spaniard.

He said, “The last run of races, the pace I had, the tyre management, the race pace, the quali, everything was a lot smoother, a lot more competitive, back to a level that I know I’m capable of driving. I’m back to a level that I should have been at the beginning of the year and this leaves me obviously with optimism.”

“Also with a feeling that I have finally mastered this car and these regulations and that whatever type of car comes next year, I am ready to drive it.”

The Spaniard further added that he had to switch around a few things in his driving style. As well as reset all his settings on his systems.

He said, “Then I had tougher and easier years, but never such a challenging year as 2022. I found myself in a position where I was driving with this car, I was constantly off the pace in the first five, six races, and I had to fight a lot to change some things in my driving, some things on the car, try to get the car a bit closer to my liking.”

“I drive and reset a bit the way I was driving, and it took a long time. But then, as soon as it happened, I felt like I had done a big step forward as a driver in my skills, in my development.”

To conclude, he said, “But I’m honestly very proud, the way that I recovered the season, the way that I managed to stay motivated.
