When it rains, it pours! Ferrari is best placed to prove this phrase in the world of F1, especially after their 2022 season. After a blistering start in 2022, the Italian outfit has failed to make a mark and register a win. This scenario not only led to managerial shuffling but also cast doubt on the future of the drivers. Carlos Sainz was the obvious target with the Spaniard pipped to replace before his contract runs out. However, F1 expert Peter Windsor has put some faith in Sainz’s abilities and even favors him over Charles Leclerc.
During his latest live chat session with his fans, Windsor was asked if Sainz was a good match for Ferrari. Not only did the Brit think he’s a good match for the team, he believes Sainz is outperforming Leclerc at the moment. Windsor urge to manage expectations and not anticipate Max Verstappen-esque performances. However, for now, for Ferrari, Sainz is an ideal driver.

“I think they do, don’t they? They (Sainz and Ferrari) seem to be getting on very well in terms of, he’s a cool guy, he’s got charisma. I think he’s very Ferrari. If they expected him to go in and be Max Verstappen, obviously they’d be disappointed,” he said.
“But I don’t think any of the current lot are that stupid, are they? I think they all know what Carlos is, more or less. In terms of what the car’s able to give him, he’s doing as good a job as Charles right now, probably better,” he backed the Spaniard further.

With the number of occasions both Sainz and Leclerc have suffered because of Ferrari, naturally, one would understand if there is a lack of trust. However, it is common knowledge, no team can succeed without trust. So despite Ferrari’s numerous faults, Sainz is still putting his faith in his team to get them back to fighting for wins and the championship.
Revealing his trust, Sainz said, “We know what the weak points of the car are: we overheat the tires on our own, so imagine yourself behind a car, even more so. This makes the races more complicated, leaves you little flexibility to attack opponents. But I trust Ferrari, I trust the fact that we will improve the car and that we have the ability to do so. We know exactly what the problem with the car is.”
