The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is ready for the weekend. The 2024 Spanish Grand Prix is here! But the name of Carlos Sainz‘s future team is yet unannounced. The Smooth Operator, now on ‘notice period’ with Ferrari, is yet to decide which team he will choose for 2025. With speculations around a possible move to Williams [ or maybe Audi], ‘Chilli’ waits to expose his schemes.

The signing of Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari came as a shock for many Tifosi. Sainz had been performing admirably with the team, notably ending Max Verstappen’s winning streak in Singapore last year. However, he expressed surprise at not being informed about his replacement. The news, delivered via social media, must have been deeply disappointing for him.

Before the Spanish Grand Prix, the Madrid-born driver told AS downplayed the significance of the events. Previously he has suffered from losing his seat quite a couple of times. However, this time, he has chosen not to make any hasty decisions. Meanwhile, Kevin Magnussen even went to the extent of calling Sainz: “Cork in the bottle.” All the drivers, without a contract, have their eyes glued on ‘Chilli’. My future depended on Hamilton’s decision at the time and no one called me to let me know,” Carlos told AS. “It’s a tough sport at that level, the drivers get along well and we support each other, you can tell if you’re a good guy,” Sainz continued.

Keeping aside the past, Carlos offered a sweet gesture for Esteban Ocon. Amid speculations about Sainz’s potential move, he suggested to Ocon that he could join Sauber, the future Audi F1 team. His gesture towards Ocon indicates camaraderie or encouragement to seize opportunities. Ocon’s Alpine contract ends in 2024, prompting him to explore his options on the grid.

Carlos Sainz discussed his future aspects at the FIA press conference. But, there’s a catch. Recently, social media was full of rumors that Williams could announce Carlos Sainz as a part of the team for 2025. Shutting down all rumors, Sainz added: “The decision will be made very soon, I don’t want to wait any longer.”  To stay on the safe side, Sainz is taking his time. He mentioned that he would need a couple of days at home,  preferably in the presence of his family when he decides on his future.

With limited options left, Sainz must decide. And the pilot is aware of the situation.  Carlos’s decision will be even more crucial for his future. Sainz has two options: Williams and Audi. One is a reliable team with the engine of Mercedes holding the reigns. While the other, Audi is a future team, with its engine and high-performance curves.

With the introduction of the new regulations from 2026 onwards, any decision that Sainz takes now will have a direct impact on his future. Experts have previously mentioned that a driver of his caliber must choose wisely. Sainz had been waiting for Red Bull’s decision which turned out to be drab for their fans. An extended contract for Sergio Perez was not in the bingo cards of fans and drivers. Especially for drivers like Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo.

Surprisingly, the Smooth Operator’s terminating contract resonates with the terminating contract of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in 2026! As the Spanish Grand Prix begins, Sainz must decide his stance and look forward to the future. With anticipation building for his future, Sainz must also focus on fighting to win the race on his home soil.
