When it comes to Carlos Sainz, the driver proved himself at the Australian Grand Prix and even finished ahead of his teammate. However, the same cannot be said for Daniel, who is fighting for his seat in the Red Bull racing team, while his teammate Carlos Sainz is out of his seat and looking for possible suitors.
However, despite the unfavorable conditions, what can be said for sure is that both the drivers have a lot to prove in this season to decide their career in the future. Both have been called a world champion candidate and while Daniel Ricciardo fell, Carlos Sainz is yet to decide his fate. But saying that Sainz is in the same position as Ricciardo ever was, is scary for his fans to say the least. However, that’s what F1 Pundit Jesús Balseiro boldly said, which might take Sainz fans aback.

The F1 Nation podcast invited Damon Hill, where Tom Clarkson and Jesús Balseiro sat down with the F1 legend to discuss the events of the season. The podcast started with talks about Carlos Sainz’s triumph in the Australian Grand Prix, but later moved to the Australian Honey Badger where Balseiro had something to say.
After being asked, “Daniel Ricciardo, is he in a rut? Where is he at, why can’t he get a lap time out of that RB? Are struggles now reminiscent of the struggles that he had at McLaren? Are we surprised by his form?”, Balseiro replied, “He used to be one of the most talented drivers on drivers and he was sort of in a position as maybe Carlos now, as they were only ones who have beaten the fastest car then, which was the Mercedes.”

He further explained Riccardo’s position in Formula One right now, saying, “His problem is Yuki Tsunoda because there shouldn’t be a fight between him and Yuki; he should be clearly ahead. Also, thinking about the Red Bull available next year, so yeah, it’s kind of a sad situation because first, he’s one of the funniest and happier drivers on this grid and he does not look like that anymore.”
The Roundup on Daniel Ricciardo
Jesús Balseiro continued to explain how people say “he is a driver for fast cars and it’s not easy to go back from a top car and still be competitive”. But his argument was that drivers need to be more adaptive and “experimented” on that front. Saying that if Ricciardo was more into experimenting with his setup, things would have turned out differently for him.

Then the question arises, where does Carlos Sainz stand in all of this? The Spaniard has many options as to which team he would want to join. No team would deny that he is a talented driver and a proven race-winner, so why not have him on the team?
