Carlos Sainz is having a great season, but the race week in Australia didn’t go according to the plan. Everything went against the Spaniard, from a disappointing Saturday qualifying to a DNF elimination on the Sunday race.

Sainz got two podiums this season so far, finishing second in Bahrain and third in Saudi Arabia. The Spaniard was expecting a better result in Australia, where he drove after two years. But everything went bad for the 27-year-old Spaniard. He couldn’t get a clean run with his F1-75 in the final qualifying, where he only secured a P9. Subsequently, he also had some issues with the steering wheel in the race, which led him into the gravel trap.

However, even after the poor performance in Australia, Sainz is still optimistic about the rest of the season. Sainz said, “There was always going to be one race where things were not going to go my way, and there was always going to be a race where I was going to end up doing a mistake. The important thing is just to come back to try and be more perfect.”

So, the Spaniard wants his team to perfect the 2022 challenger if they want to fight for wins this season. He expressed, “with the car that we have this year, I feel like every race that you don’t finish, you’re going to be losing a lot of points that you could have scored.”

The Prancing Horses could have easily had both their cars in the top 10 or even in the top 5. But issues with Carlos Sainz’s car cost them some vital points. Although, Ferrari is still comfortably sitting on top of the Constructors’ Standing, with 104 points.
