Mercedes announces the contract updates for George Russell and Lewis Hamilton midway through the 2023 season. Ferrari, on the other hand, has failed to do so for both their drivers. While there are some rumors about Charles Leclerc’s contract, very little is known about Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard’s father has now come out to give a happy update on the Ferrari contract talks. But what is he saying?
During the 2023 season, Carlos Sainz revealed how he would want to start the 2024 season with the guarantee of his future beyond that. His current contract with Ferrari ends after the 2024 season. It is believed that Carlos Sainz has asked Ferrari for a multiple-year deal, but the Scuderia are only interested in offering him a one-year extension. Regardless, all these are just rumors. But now, Papa Sainz has spoken about the Ferrari contract.
🚨 Carlos Sainz, sobre la renovación de su hijo: “En Ferrari nos han hecho saber que están contentos con Carlos”.
👉 “Me imagino que ahora, a principios de año, seguirá el proceso de renovación que está iniciado”.

According to @FormulaDirecta’s Tweet, Carlos Sainz Sr. said, “At Ferrari they have let us know that they are happy with Carlos. I imagine that now, at the beginning of the year, the renewal process that is underway will continue.” Sainz Sr’s words act like a ray of hope for all the Sainz fans and Tifosi and shed some much-needed light on the Spaniard’s contract situation.
But what exactly is the reason behind Ferrari not presenting their drivers with a new contract yet? Does Ferrari have another driver in mind that they’d be willing to sign for 2025? Well, not really, as Frederic Vasseur revealed the reason for not being able to focus on contract discussions.

Frederic Vasseur spills beans on the Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz’s contract delays
A few weeks ago, Carlos Sainz expressed his love for Ferrari in an interview where he suggested that Ferrari is the best place to become a world champion. Frederic Vasseur also elaborated on why Ferrari wasn’t able to have the contract talk. He advised on how the 2023 season was full of action and very hectic, with all the focus on the development of the car and being able to match the Red Bulls. He added that there is no rush for the contract and that it will happen in due time.
Frederic Vasseur said, “We are not in a rush to extend the deals but [we] have started discussions. Mercedes did it in August. We are not in a rush at all.
