Sainz Sr is a two-time rally champion racer who won championship titles in 1990 and 1992. Following his retirement from WRC, Sainz Sr. transitioned to cross-country rallying, where he continued to excel.

Sainz Sr. showcased his skill by driving the brand-new Audi RS Q e-tron at the 2022 Dakar Rally. Early on in 2024, at the age of 61, Sainz Sr. made history by becoming the oldest driver to win the Dakar Rally. He has multiple wins across years 2010, 2018, 2020, and 2024 in the world of Rally racing. He was recently given the Honorary Motor Prize along with his son as a recognition from the city of Jerez.

The wedding ceremony took place at the picturesque Santiago Apóstol church in Cebreros (Ávila).
