The home of Formula 1, the British Grand Prix has started off with a banger! With interchangeable and tricky conditions, the Silverstone Circuit in the UK has given us one epic Qualifying session. But as the times keep tumbling and the laps keep getting faster, there’s a storm brewing in the Ferrari garage. As things stand, it seems as though the gloves are finally off between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz!

As the Haas of Kevin Magnussen retired in the dying embers of Q1, all the 19 drivers were eyeing to get a lap in once the session had resumed. But if the drivers have learned anything about last-minute Qualifying attempts, then it’s that the gentlemen’s rule is thrown out of the window. And that’s exactly what Carlos Sainz bestowed upon his Monegasque teammate, Leclerc.

The Monegasque racing ace was not impressed with his teammate jumping him ahead of the Vale chicane and essentially compromising his commencing lap. Leclerc was queuing up behind a gaggle of cars, and Sainz worried about his tire temps and the time remaining on the clock decided to cut his teammate off. This, naturally, didn’t sit too well with Leclerc and the Tifosi.

“Never hated a Ferrari driver before…” – Carlos Sainz gets the Brunt of Fans

Leclerc came onto his radio comms to sarcastically comment, Nice Carlos! Nice! Good overtake in last corner!” But that’s not enough, as soon as this went viral, fans rushed to the social networking site, Twitter to share their reactions.

One fan even commented, Carlos needs to leave Ferrari, switch him with a driver that actually wants what’s best for the team.”

Let’s take a look at just a few of the fan reactions from this dramatic Ferrari tussle at the British Grand Prix.

Sainz himself had his own reasons. He explained, “I had to go! It was too much! Everyone was going,” over his radio comms. But this isn’t the first time the Spaniard can be pinned for putting his own needs over that of the team. Hence, the fans’ fury.

Many also speculated that Sainz took an unnecessary act of revenge after his latest radio communications. He was heard as saying, “It’s a bit unfair what you asked me to do there. Sacrifice my tire temperature. Also I’m more at risk. I’m P4 and he’s P3,” as the team asked him to invert positions with Leclerc in the pit-lane a short while before.
