F1 has become a huge business in terms of media and broadcasting. The audience numbers have skyrocketed in recent years for F1 weekends. To top it up broadcasters like Sky Sports are optimizing their strategies to boost these numbers even more. Now usually, the famous athletes of any sport get the most coverage time. Although, for the 2022 F1 season, this trend took a back seat. The most featured entity of the F1 paddock on Sky Sports F1’s coverage was Red Bull Boss Christian Horner.
According to MotorsportBroadcasting.com, Horner was featured in 33.7% of the content last year. This number beats everyone including the drivers and team bosses of the 10 teams. In comparison, his rival Toto Wolff was only featured in 18.2% of the content.
This elite list has the percentage numbers of all 20 drivers and 10 team principals. In the driver’s list, Charles Leclerc leads the field with 13.7% of featured content from Sky F1. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are tied up at 11.6%.

Now, to delve into the details, Lewis Hamilton just edged out the Dutchman by 0.04%. The exact numbers for Lewis and Max are 11.60% and 11.56% respectively. Nonetheless, Horner’s numbers beat both these world champions comfortably.
Although, fans feel quite infuriated about the Red Bull boss being the top entity according to these Sky broadcast numbers. Several fans reacted to these numbers quite sarcastically. They cited how Sky F1 covered Christian Horner so much in 2022 that it felt like he is part of the Sky presenters’ team.
Fans React Sarcastically to Christian Horner – Sky F1’s Top Featured Entity
F1 fans have shown their anger and sarcasm about the Red Bull Boss. Certainly, there will be a lot of hateful comments about Christian Horner and his team, considering the number of controversies they are associated with in recent times.
Can’t stand the guy, but for a business that is a 100% about marketing, he done them proud.

Is it even an F1 broadcast if it lacks several versions of "we now go to Christian Horner on the Red Bull pitwall"

He's gotta be on sky's payroll, actually a joke how much airtime they get. 10 teams, every team gets at least 2 races per year, seems pretty simple to me

I had to be on MUTE for 33.7% of the time

@SkySportsF1 and you say you are not biased !!
What a joke !! 😂😂😂— joff hall (@joffa81) February 3, 2023
Even Sky F1 has been taking some slack and hate over its alleged biased broadcasting. Yet, fans are playing with the same sentiment in these reactions, citing how people say Sky is biased towards British drivers like Lewis Hamilton.
Some fans also pointed out the irony of the Sky Sports – Red Bull boycott drama along with Horner’s top honor.
The two races where RB boycotted Sky were pure bliss. No hearing from Horner every 30 mins

Sky does same for football. Team at top get shown more times than mid or boot on clubs not news
— Paul Forster (@PaulForsterUK) February 3, 2023
I'm surprised it isn't higher for Horner. It felt like he was the main Sky presenter given the amount of airtime he got.
Given RBR boycott the figure for just the non-boycotted races must be near 50%
He can't talk to the Race Director anymore so pedals RBR propaganda to the fans— Gay Cars (@GayCars) February 3, 2023
Rookie numbers, we need to boost those up @SkySportsF1

Fans are also complaining about Horner and Co. getting the limelight due to being at the top. While this is a noticeable trend in both drivers and team bosses, the media often gets the most views for these famous and top entities. Even during the race coverage, a battle for the lead will draw more attention from audiences than a battle for 10th place.
So, again as per this list, Charles Leclerc, along with the Mercedes driver duo and Max Verstappen are the top featured folks. Being world champions and race winners, they created many headlines last year, thus they were featured the most.
Skyredbull. Very cosy with the cheats. Speaks volumes.

Christian Horner doesn’t deny interviews from Sky usually. So, it makes sense why he leads this elite coverage list. Nonetheless, in this season, it may be interesting to see this trend. If a tight championship fight happens, drivers like Hamilton, Verstappen, or Leclerc may get more coverage time.
